~ A Sample Game ~

Let's play through one round of a sample game. This sample game uses the decks provided in the fixed Iron Throne Edition Starter. You will play as the Starks, and your opponent - let's call him "Jaime" - will play as the devious Lannisters.

Before we get started, let's just go through a quick rundown of the phases of a round:

  • (0. Setup) Shuffle your deck, draw seven cards, and play up to 5 gold worth of characters and locations.
  • (1. Plot) Each player secretly selects a plot card and reveals it at the same time. Initiative and first player is determined.
  • (2. Draw) Each player draws 2 cards.
  • (3. Marshalling) Players use their gold and cost reducers to play characters, locations, and attachments. The first player marshalls all his cards first, followed by his opponent.
  • (4. Challenges) Each player can initiate one of each challenge. The first player initiates all of his challenges first, followed by his opponent.
  • (5. Dominance) The player with the highest standing STR claims 1 power for his house.
  • (6. Standing) Each player stands all of his cards.
  • Go back to (1. Plot) and repeat
